Born without arms and legs, Ototake Hirotada chronicled his story of courage and resilience in his 1998 memoir No One’s Perfect. Following a career as a sports journalist, Ototake entered the world of education as an elementary school teacher. His experiences there became the basis for his 2010 novel Daijibu Sankumi. Now, the novel is Nobody’s Perfect, a gentle drama from director Hiroki Ryuichi (April Bride, Egoists). Ototake makes his acting debut as Akao, an elementary school teacher with no arms and legs who touches the heart of his 28 fifth grade students with his positive attitude and genuine concern for his students. Nobody’s Perfect also co-stars Tokio’s Kokubun Taichi as a supportive school board member.

On the first day of school, the students of Matsuura Nishi’s fifth grade-class three got a big surprise when they discover that their teacher is Akao (Ototake Hirotada), a handicapped man born without arms and legs. After the initial shock, the children begin to warm up to Akao and open up to him about their problems. With the help of supportive school board member Shiraishi (Kokubun Taichi), Akao comes up with unusually effective ways to help his students..
