Produced as part of Fuji TV’s 50th anniversary project, Amalfi – Megami no Hoshu (a.k.a. Amalfi: Rewards of the Goddess) is the first Japanese feature filmed entirely in Italy. Set in the picturesque coastal town of Amalfi, Italy, the 2009 crime suspense from studio director Nishitani Hiroshi (Suspect X) stars Fuji TV’s favorite leading man Oda Yuji, who headlined the studio’s blockbuster Bayside Shakedown franchise. Based on a novel by Shinbo Yuichi, Amalfi – Megami no Hoshu also features an all-star cast that includes Sato Koichi (Nobody to watch over me), Amama Yuki (BOSS), Toda Erika (Code Blue), Fukuyama Masaharu (Suspect X), Ito Atsushi (Fish Story), Otsuka Nene (Vacation), and Sarah Brightman.
While working in Italy, Japanese diplomat Kuroda (Oda Yuji) gets pulled into investigating the case of a Japanese girl who was abducted in Rome on Christmas. What starts as a kidnapping case unfolds into a wild-goose chase that may be connected to the upcoming G8 summit..
