Changing Partner (DVD) (Hong Kong Version)
From Andy Chin, the director of relatively serious fares like Call Girl ’92 and Love Among the Triad, comes the 1992 romantic comedy Changing Partner. Co-written by James Yuen (He’s a Woman, She’s a Man), the film stars The Wynners’ Anthony Chan (who also produces) in a romantic coupling with actress Sandra Ng that is as funny as it is unlikely.
Chan and Ng play Yau and Sandra, two police officers facing problems in their respective love lives – Yau’s girlfriend (Carrie Ng) has left him because of his lack of ambition, while Sandra’s boyfriend has left with her money in tow. When a serial killer appears to be targeting newlyweds in a seaside neighborhood, Yau and Sandra are forced to hold a stakeout posing as newlyweds in the same house. The two are obviously mismatched at first, but romance begins to blossom as they spend more time together. However, Yau’s girlfriend suddenly returns, putting Yau in an impossible bind..
