Inspired by the 19th-century play Cyrano de Bergerac, the romantic blockbuster Cyrano Agency offers a decidedly more modern and upbeat take on the art of surrogate courting. The urban rom-com about a matchmaking agency that plays cupid for those who falter in love charmed audiences in spades, topping the Korean box office for three consecutive weeks. Uhm Tae Woong (Chaw) is the “Cyrano” of this unconventional love story co-starring young television stars Daniel Choi (High Kick 2), Park Shin Hye (You’re Beautiful), and Lee Min Jung (Boys Over Flowers), who picked up a slew of Best New Actress awards for her performance. Directed by Kim Hyun Suk (Scout), Cyrano Agency also won Best Screenplay at the 31st Blue Dragon Awards.
Byung Hoon (Uhm Tae Woong) and his team (Park Shin Hye, Jun Ah Min, Park Cheol Min) at Cyrano Agency boast a 100% success rate when it comes to matchmaking. They painstakingly concoct elaborate, covert schemes and strategies to help their lovesick clients get their dream dates, but their latest client is a different story.
