Medical dramas have been hot commodities in Korea in the last few years, what with the popularity of The Great White Tower, Surgeon Bong Dal Hee, and New Heart. Korea’s arguably most classic medical drama is General Hospital which aired for over 90 episodes from 1994 to 1996. Twelve years later, General Hospital returns with a new generation of doctors! The intern of yesteryear, Lee Jae Ryong, reprises his role as Dr. Kim Do Hoon, only now he plays the veteran resident to Cha Tae Hyun (Scandal Makers) and Kim Jung Eun (Lovers in Paris) who collaborate again for the first time since the 1998 medical drama Sunflower. The great Choi Wan Kyu (Jumong, The Grand Chef) is also back onboard as screenwriter, ensuring that the charm of the original carries over to the 2008 version.

Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Jung Eun play doctors Choi Jin Sang and Jung Ha Yoon, first-year residents at the same hospital. Jin Sang is a bumbling doctor with a lot of heart, but not enough skill. Ha Yoon is a strong-minded law school graduate who joined the residency program to gain experience for future medical malpractice cases. Though they come from very different backgrounds and value systems, both come unto their own as doctors as they face different personal and professional challenges. General Hospital 2‘s great ensemble cast also includes Ryu Jin (Love Truly), Ryu Seung Soo (Evasive Inquiry Agency), Do Ji Won (Punch Lady), Lee Jong Won (The Kingdom of the Winds), and Go Joon Hee (The Foxy Lady)..
