Highway Man (1995) (DVD) (Hong Kong Version)
Written and directed by Lau Shui Hung, 1995 car racing film Highway Man is the sequel to 1991’s Off Track. Julian Cheung (Wo Hu) and the ever prolific Anthony Wong take to the streets as illegal racers in this small, but heady racing flick. The film’s supporting cast includes Rachel Lee (Ordinary Heroes), Christine Ng (The Storm Riders), Lam Wai Leung (Bugis Street), and TVB actor Marco Ngai.
Chiu (Julian Cheung) and Lion King (Lam Wai Leung) are facing off in a high-stakes street race. The prize: 10,000 dollars and Carman (Rachel Lee). Lion King, however, loses control of his car, driving it into a crowd of people. Determined to recover his pride, Lion King arranges for another match, exactly what police inspector Michael (Marco Ngai), head of the anti-street racing unit, was hoping for. With all of Hong Kong’s best street racers gathered, the police come out in numbers to catch the drivers. Fuji (Anthony Wong) attempts to race past the police blockade, but a malicious move from Lion King leads to a devastating accident..
