In 2009, Dr. Natsukawa Sosuke published Kamisama no Karute, an award-winning novel about a hard-working small-town doctor who had to choose between his patients at his understaffed clinic or his relationship with his wife. Two years later, director Fukugawa Yoshihiro adapted the novel into In His Chart, starring Arashi’s Sakurai Sho as the devoted doctor. After its box office success, writer Goto Noriko, Fukugawa and the first film’s main cast reunite for In His Chart 2, based on Natsukawa’s second book of the series. In this installment, Dr. Kuriharai Ichito (Sakurai Sho) gets some much-needed help at the clinic when old friend Shindo Tatsuya (Fujiwara Tatsuya) joins the team. Known as the moral compass of his and Ichito’s class back in medical school, Tatsuya has obviously become a different man since his youth. Will Ichito be able to bring back Tatsuya’s idealist side?
