TVB’s Karma Rider is a costume gangster comedy drama spiced up with a love story inspired by the famous tale of the Butterfly Lovers. A pair of butterflies brings together a detective, a street pickpocket and a public bathroom porter. Will their fates be like that of the star-crossed lovers Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai?
Yat Chin (Raymond Wong), a carefree detective in the town of Maxiang, sows seeds of hatred with pickpocket Foon Hei (Priscilla Wong) early in their lives. Yat Chin constantly goes after Foon Hei and her sisters Foon Siu (Cilla Kung) and Foon Ching (Leung Ka Ki), busting their schemes and threatening their livelihood. One day, Tin Bong (Mak Cheung Ching), who has the ability to see a person’s karma, is accused of murder. After realizing that Tin Bong is innocent, Yat Chin and Foon Hei decide to help him fight for justice. Soon Yat Chin meets Wu Dip (Yoyo Chen) and is immediately attracted to her, believing that Yat Chin is his destiny – his Zhu Yingtai. But Yat Chin is surprised to see in his dreams that his destiny is in fact someone other than Wu Dip. At the same time, Yat Ching, Foon Hei and Tin Bong suddenly find themselves in the middle of a conspiracy that will shake things up and rewrite their fate..
