The story of a man from Beijing who travels to Los Angeles to find the long-lost children of his first lover is tugging at the heartstrings of a great number of audiences. Shot on location in the City of Angels, CCTV drama Losing Los Angeles has won a lot of praise for Liang Guanhua’s sincere portrayal of the good guy Sun Ziwang who perseveres on his quest despite many difficulties. Directed by Chen Haofang, the urban drama also stars Wang Fuli, Wang Xiao, Xiang Tian, Taiwan action actress Anya (Naked Weapon), screenwriters Chu Ji and Wang Yanmeng, and popular actor Liu Hua.

More than 20 years ago, Sun Ziwang fell for the beautiful Xiu (Xiang Tian), just as his best friend Zhang Danian (Wang Bozhao) did. Unbeknownst to Sun, Zhang won Xiu’s heart, soul, and body, and she soon bore his child, but the selfish man asked her to have an abortion. Xiu went into hiding and gave birth to a pair of twins before dying in depression. The twin babies were adopted and brought up by American foster parents. Many years later, Sun is mistaken to be the children’s father, and that prompted his wife of 20 years to divorce him. Sun then embarks on a journey to the west to find Xiu’s children – and the heartless man that ruined her life. Undaunted by the cultural and language barriers, and the fact that he is fast running out of money, Sun is finally able to locate the children, Frank (Wang Xiao) and Angela (Anya), who are not quite willing to accept the truth….
