In the film, twenty-three year old actress/model Fujisawa Ema stars as Koizumi Risa, a lanky, extremely tall high school girl who ends up meeting her exact opposite: a “vertically challenged” young man named Otani Atsushi, played by Koike Teppei from the boy idol duo WAT.
The two mismatched youngsters find common ground in their respective height anxieties, and an attraction soon blossoms between them. Though their sizes are seemingly incompatible, the two kids find happiness together, especially in their obsession for the same peculiar interests – that is, until Atsushi’s ex-girlfriend re-enters the picture! Full of hilarious dialogue spoken in the regional Kansai dialect and featuring an appearance by Ryouta Yamasato and Shizuyo Yamasaki from the comedy duo Nankai Candies, Lovely Complex is one live action manga update that’s sure to tickle the audience’s funnybone!.
