Seven years after Taegukgi: The Brotherhood of War, director Kang Je Gyu returns with the highly anticipated My Way, another big-budget war movie starring two of Asia’s biggest actors. Taegukgi leading man Jang Dong Gun and Japanese star Odagiri Joe (Warrior and the Wolf) play two soldiers whose fortunes cross during the Japanese occupation of Korea. Sent to fight in Europe with the Japanese imperial army, the two men are natural enemies by nationality, but in the relentless and unpredictable barrage of war in a foreign land, they become each other’s only hope for survival. Billed as the most expensive Korean film of all time, Kang’s sweeping WWII drama about finding humanity in the darkness of war is inspired by the real-life story of a Korean POW. The budget can be seen readily onscreen in the film’s stunning battle scenes, which bring the heroes to Mongolia, Siberia, and the storming of Normandy. My Way also co-stars Fan Bingbing as a Chinese guerrilla army sniper, and features a Pan-Asian cast that includes Kim In Kwon, Lee Yeon Hee, Cheon Ho Jin, Tsurumi Shingo, Yamamoto Taro, and Sano Shiro.

Japanese marathoner Tatsuo (Odagiri Joe) and Korean marathoner Jun Sik (Jang Dong Gun) have known each other since childhood, but their rivalry goes beyond running in a Korea subjugated by Japanese rule. When Jun Sik edges out Tatsuo in an Olympic qualifying race but Tatsuo is declared the winner, riots break out and Jun Sik gets arrested. He is forcibly conscripted into the Japanese Imperial Army and sent to the European battlefront, where his commanding officer is none other than Tatsuo..
