The delightfully twisted Iguchi Noboru (Dead Sushi) is back with a riff on tokusatsu (special effects) movies, Nuigulumar Z! Based on the novel by Ohtsuki Kenji, which itself was based on a song by Ohtsuki’s band Tokusatsu, the movie stars Nakagawa Shoko, J-pop’s queen of all things otaku, as Ayukawa Yumeko (a.k.a. Dameko), a lolita who yearns to be a hero. Her wish is granted when she gets the power to merge with her hot pink-colored talking teddy bear (voiced by Abe Sadao) to become leather-clad superhero Nuigulumar Z (Iguchi regular Takeda Rina, who also plays villain Kill Billy). When Japan gets overrun by zombies, it’s up to Dameko and Nuigulumar Z to save the day!
