Co-starring Max Mok, Rosamund Kwan, Lau Shun, and kung fu wonder Xiong Xinxin, Once Upon a Time in China III‘s exhilarating fight scenes unfold against the backdrop of a Lion Dance competition (essentially a martial arts contest) organized by the head minister on the Empress Dowager’s order. Master Wong Fei Hung (Jet Li) is in the capital city visiting his father, and he only reluctantly enters the competition when local gang lord Chiu is causing chaos amidst the rivaling martial arts schools. Chiu sends his kung fu hitman, Clubfoot (Xiong Xinxin), to challenge Master Wong. Meanwhile, Wong has to ward off the advances of the Russian admirer made to his lover Thirteen Aunt (Rosamund Kwan), who inadvertently uncovers a sinister plot to assassinate the head minister during the Lion Dance competition..
