Taiwanese diva Jody Chiang reveals her secret love life in her 2010 new album! The veteran songstress has sung so many tunes about love and marriage, but this time, it promises to be the most personal for her yet. Titled Tong Si Beh Ke (Minnanese for “When Get Married?”), the album’s titular single is about Jody’s – and maybe just about every woman’s – longing for a life partner. Through the semi-autobiographical song, Jody admits that although still single and the prospect of her getting married doesn’t seem high, she is thankful to be around so many people who have loved and supported her. Co-produced by Jody and Eric Chen, the album features cover artwork by Grammy-nominated designer Xiao Qing Yang and the China National Symphony Orchestra on strings. Other major cuts of the album include a song composed by Mando-pop king Jay Chou (Track 3: “Sayonara”) and a song penned by Jody herself (Track 4: “Aiyoaiyo”).

The DVD contains the karaoke videos of all 10 songs of the album..

Enter a dark, magical world of dragons and sorcery in Studio Ghibli’s blockbuster animated epic Tales from Earthsea. Adapted from Ursula K. Le Guin’s beloved children’s fantasy book series, Tales from Earthsea marks the phenomenal directorial debut of Miyazaki Goro, the son of the legendary Miyazaki Hayao. Complex and compelling, Tales from Earthsea presents a sweeping, fantastical story about a young prince’s journey through darkness and redemption.

A mysterious force is disturbing the natural balance in the land of Earthsea. Dragons are feuding, magic is dying, and the whole of humanity is falling into chaos. Haunted by inner demons, Prince Arren (voiced by Okada Junichi) stabs his father and runs away with the king’s sword. He finds friendship and protection with kind-hearted master wizard Ged and a strange young girl named Therru. A shadow, however, continues to haunt Arren, drawing him to the evil sorcerer Cob whose quest for immortality is destroying the balance between the realm of the living and dead. To save Earthsea, Arren must stop Cob, but he himself is falling into darkness.

More overtly dark in theme than previous Ghibli works, Tales from Earthsea is certainly equally amazing in terms of animation and design. Grand castles, medieval towns, stretching deserts, raging oceans, and idyllic countrysides vibrantly come alive on screen in rich strokes and seas of aqua and crimson. The release of a Studio Ghibli film is always a big event in Japan, and Tales of Earthsea was no exception. The film topped the box office for four weeks and earned over $60 million overall, proving that the apple does not fall far from the tree.

Blu-ray Edition comes with audio and subtitle options in multiple languages. It also includes storyboards (shown in picture-in-picture format), dubbing script, a two-part, 90-minute making of documentary, the “Okuda Junichi Meets Tales From Earthsea” program, and a collection of trailers..

Journey to the West comes to the big screen like never before in the 2007 film Saiyuuki! Also known as Monkey Magic and Adventures of the Super Monkey, this is the latest in a long line of adaptations of the Wu Cheng’en tome. One of the four great Chinese classics, Journey to the West, or Saiyuuki in Japanese, is about the adventures of Tang Dynasty monk Tripitaka and his mischievous magical disciples as they journey to India to retrieve the Buddhist sutras. This fantastical allegorical tale has been adapted countless times for the big and small screen, notably in classic Chinese films like Ho Meng Hua’s The Monkey Goes West series and Stephen Chow’s The Chinese Odyssey series. In Japan, Saiyuuki also inspired many adaptations including the anime series Dragonball and an immensely popular TV series in 1978.

Fuji TV took a leap of faith in 2006 with their own brand-new 11-episode Saiyuuki starring Katori Shingo of SMAP as famed monkey king Son Goku. Actress Fukatsu Eri (The Professor’s Beloved Formula) plays monk Sanzo Hoshi (Tripitaka), echoing the gender twist of the 1970s series. Ito Atsushi (Densha Otoko) and Uchimura Teruyoshi (Zebraman) complete the square as lecherous swine spirit Cho Hakkai (Pigsy) and water demon Sa Gojou (Friar Sand), with updated personalities and powers. The TV drama was such a huge success, it was followed up with a feature film in 2007, with the original cast reprising their roles.

Helmed by TV director Sawada Kensaku, feature film Saiyuuki retains the narrative quirks, zany energy, and colorful demons that made the drama so fresh and entertaining. The manic comic powers of Katori Shingo show no signs of abating as the gang of four takes their journey to the silver screen. This time, they encounter a princess whose parents have been turned into turtles by two powerful demons, played by Kaga Takeshi (Death Note) and Kishitani Goro (Ry ga Gotoku). Son Goku and company head for the mystical mountains to battle the demons…
