Written and co-directed by the shtick master himself Wong Jing, the film is set in turn-of-the-century China when political violence and chaos abound, except in peaceful Lucky Star Town. The goofy denizens of Lucky Star Town are as happy as can be until some unexpected visitors come wandering into town including a KMT general’s daughter, a group of young revolutionaries and mountain bandits working for the Japanese. As the clash between the revolutionaries and the Japanese heat up, the ninjas bring the fight to Lucky Star Town. Little do they know, Lucky Star Town is home to seven great kung fu masters.
Comedy regulars Sandra Ng, Ronald Cheng, Eric Tsang, Yuen Wah, Wong Cho Lam, Xie Na and Natalie Meng bring laughs aplenty as the martial arts masters hiding their true identities and powers while carrying on normal, wacky lives. Kimmy Tong is the “princess” of the story, the general’s daughter in need of protection. Besides the Hong Kong-style nonsensical comedy, Princess and Seven Kung Fu Masters also manages to be surprisingly solid in the martial arts department with Yuen Wah, Xing Yu, Philip Ng, Dennis To and the great Sammo Hung in the cast..
