Director Huang Jia Jun proves there are miracles around us with the documentary Rock Me To The Moon, which follows the journey of six fathers who all have children with rare diseases. Featuring a band of six average-looking middle-aged men who find hope in music jamming and some occasional out-of-tune singing, Rock Me To The Moon is a highly appealing film and one of the most emotionally straining documentaries of 2013. Making their debut at an outdoor music festival in Taiwan, the amateur rock band puts aside life’s sufferings for a brief moment by belting out unconditional fatherly love for their children. Rock Me To The Moon received the audience award at last year’s Taipei Film Festival and Best Original Film Song at 2013’s Golden Horse Awards.

Six music novices from different walks of life come together in the name of music and the one thing that they treasure most in life: their children, all of whom suffer from rare diseases. Making their debut at the popular Ho-Hai-Yan Gongliao Rock Festival, the selfless fathers do not look for fame but only some comfort amid life’s hardships through the healing powers of music.
