Marking the comeback of Steven Ma since he left TVB in 2012, the period drama Storm In A Cocoon is centered on a silk factory in Guangzhou. The drama opens with a suspenseful murder that paves way for the power struggles and love triangles in the Poon family. It is also the third time for Steven to play a screen couple with TVB starlet Tavia Yeung following 2006’s Land of Wealth and 2009’s Sweetness in the Salt.
The mysterious death of Poon Hau Yee (Hong Wah), the daughter of the Poon family who runs a sizable silk plant in Guangzhou, shakes the foundation of the business and disrupts peace in the family. Amid the chaos, the second son of the family Poon Ka Yeung (Steven Ma) and silk plant worker Tong Bing Bing (Tavia Yeung) set out to investigate the case and the suspects including forewoman Sin Pik Wan (Maggie Shiu). The case becomes increasingly complicated as more people enter the factory, leading to the surprising confession of the real murderer..
