Their careers are going nowhere and their love lives are derailing, but the two heroes of Train Brain Express are happy as long as they have trains in their lives. The final film by writer-director Morita Yoshimitsu (The Family Game) before his sudden passing, Train Brain Express chronicles a sweet and funny bromance between two train fanatics, played by Matsuyama Kenichi (Death Note) and Eita (Wild 7). Portraying the two’s almost obsessive love for trains in a comedic, yet endearing fashion, Yoshimitsu takes the viewers on a scenic journey of Japan’s railways, showing 20 different train lines across the country.

Kei (Matsuyama Kenichi) and Kenta (Eita) lead very different lives: One is a salaryman working for a real estate developer, while the other is the son of a metal shop owner. However, they share an unyielding love for one thing: Trains. One day, the two meet and become the best of friends due to their shared hobby. While the two find happiness in trains, their romantic lives are in shambles; Kei is trying to fend off the affections of two persistent women, while Kenta is being set up on a marriage arrangement that ends up derailing. Will they end up finding happiness in their respective careers instead, or will they simply have to live on their love of trains for the rest of their lives?.
