Featuring heavyweights Sammi Cheng (Blind Detective) and Nick Cheung (Hungry Ghost Ritual) in their first major collaboration, Temporary Family is a romantic comedy that lampoons the state of Hong Kong’s real estate market.
Home to the world’s most expensive property per square foot, the Hong Kong real estate market is akin to an exclusive club one can never hope to enter for many who live in the metropolitan city. No one understands this better than real estate agent Lung (Nick Cheung), whose girlfriend Julie (TV actress Myolie Wu) has given him an ultimatum: deliver her a 1000-square-foot apartment in a stylish neighborhood, or she won’t marry him. Hoping to make a quick buck, Lung convinces recent divorcee Charlotte (Sammi Cheng), his stepdaughter from a previous marriage Hak (Angelababy, Tai Chi 0) and Mainland rich kid Very Wong (singer Oho Ou) to go into business with him and become co-owners of a luxury penthouse. However, their plan to flip the property for cash falls to pieces when the government enacts new legislation. Now abandoned by Julie, Lung moves into the penthouse, forming a “temporary family” with Charlotte, Hak and Very.
