Directed by Ha Gil Jong, the 1975 Korean classic The March of Fools speaks to the lives and mindset of the youth generation in the seventies. A big hit at the time, the film revolves around two college students, philosophy major Byung Tae and French lit major Young Ja, who meet, bond, and angst about school, family, relationships, and the uncertain future. Though the hint of love hangs over their ambiguous friendship, neither reveal their feelings until the day Byung Tae must leave for the army.
