Director Benny Chan’s The White Storm celebrates the brotherhood and camaraderie of three policeman played by three of Hong Kong’s most sought-after actors Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo and Nick Cheung. Deploying ferries and helicopters for its magnificent action scenes, the big-budget crime blockbuster is jam-packed with cinematically appealing and perfectly designed gunfire exchanges, car crashes and explosions. Also strong on its emotional storyline, the movie introduces the beautiful Thai transgender actress Treechada Petcharat and Chinese actress Yuan Quan, making the intricate relationships of the trio even more complicated and boosting the wow factor of the film.
Ma Ngan Tin (Lau Ching Wan), So Kin Chau (Louis Koo) and Cheung Tze Wai (Nick Cheung) met and bonded as kids and their friendship continued in police academy with their shared passion for law and justice. While Ngan Tin and Tze Wai get into the Narcotics Bureau upon graduation, Kin Chau is pre-selected to go undercover in one of Hong Kong’s biggest drug trafficking triads. Going deeper into the flourishing drug business, they track down drug lord Eight-Faced Buddha (Lo Hoi Pang) in Thailand and are forced to face a painful confrontation which only allows two of them to walk back out alive.
