The producer of A Chip off the Old Block returns with another family comedy drama loved for its winning nostalgic spirit. Starring veteran TVB actresses Liza Wang and Gigi Wong, Divas In Distress spins a funny yarn about the lifelong rivalry between the dueling divas, which has consequences for their respective families. Joining the duo in the cast are Chin Ka Lok, Him Law, Mandy Wong, Eliza Sam, Chung King Fai, Mimi Chu, Li Shing Cheong and, in an amusingly campy performance that won him Best Supporting Actor at the 2012 TVB Awards, the drama’s breakout star Koo Ming Wah.
Retired television stars Sheung Ying Hung (Liza Wang) and Miu Sing Ho (Gigi Wong) have been sworn enemies since their heydays, despite their mentor Fung Hun Man’s (Chung King Fai) many futile attempts to patch them up over the years. Ironically, Sing Ho’s son Chong Ka Long (Chin Ka Lok) married Ying Hung’s daughter, who died giving birth to their son. The tragedy has added fuel to their already fiery rivalry, so much so that Ying Hung will do anything to ruin Ka Long’s budding romance with news reporter Heung Nai Hing (Eliza Sam). Meanwhile, Ying Hung’s son Chak Yau Sing (Him Law) has fallen in love with Sing Ho’s niece, renovation worker Kwai Yee Hei (Mandy Wong). Fearing her son would follow in his late sister’s footsteps, Ying Hung vows to sabotage their relationship at any cost….
