Director Vincent Kok unites Eric Tsang and Raymond Wong for the jubilant movie Hello Babies, a Lunar New Year comedy that has everything from a wacky plot to lowbrow jokes to make you laugh. High in holiday spirit, the comedy features Sandra Ng as a famous midwife who helps a couple (played by Ronald Cheng and Fiona Sit) to conceive. As the tradition goes, the Lunar New Year movie has a plethora of star cameos including Alex Fong, Alex Lam, Karena Chin, Lynn Xiong, Jan Lamb, Miriam Yeung and Louis Koo as well as a great deal of hilarious references to movies like Ip Man and The Grandmaster.
Lui Ming (Raymond Wong) and Yeung Ah Wei (Eric Tsang) are lifelong rivals who challenge one another to just about everything that they can think of, and now they’re competing over the birth of an heir. Lui Ming, who suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease, threatens his nephew Scallop (Ronald Cheng) to have a child with wife Suet (Fiona Sit) as quick as possible after finding out about the baby girl carried by Yeung’s son Alex (Alex Lam) and wife Shan Shan (Karena Chin). Hiring midwife Kung Sham (Sandra Ng), who has incredible reproducing skills, to help Scallop and Suet conceive, they eventually come up with a make-do plan to cope with their father-in-law Lui Ming’s constant request..
