Following in the footsteps of crime films like Voice of a Murderer and The Chaser, ripped-from-the-headlines serial-killer thriller The Missing marks the directorial debut of seasoned screenwriter Kim Sung Hong (Two Cops). Shifting between the perspectives of the criminal and the victims, The Missing offers a harrowing account of abduction, torture, and murder, and the fight against all odds for survival. Veteran actor Moon Sung Keun takes on the challenging role of a two-faced pyschopathic killer whose soft-spoken mannerisms give way to horrifying brutality. Choo Ja Hyun (Portrait of a Beauty, Bloody Tie) delivers a fierce performance as a young woman determined to save her kidnapped sister.
Hyun Jung (Choo Ja Hyun) is worried sick about her younger sister Hyun Ah (Jeon Se Hyung, Temptation of Eve – Her Own Art) who has disappeared. Setting out to find her sister, she tracks down Hyun Ah’s last known whereabouts to a small countryside town. Clues point to the house of timid middle-aged chicken farmer Pan Gon (Moon Sung Keun), but when Hyun Jung tries to seek help from the police, they turn her away. Meanwhile, Hyun Ah, who was abducted days ago, is locked in a cage and being slowly tortured to death. Desperate to save her sister, Hyun Jung decides to take matters into her own hands..
