Manchuria, 1619. Chinese and Joseon forces clash in a deadly winter battle, and three soldiers manage to survive. The first directorial effort from I Saw the Devil and The Unjust screenwriter Park Hoon Jung, The Showdown stages a good ol’ Mexican standoff in Manchuria. The handsomely lensed period actioner launches a battle of both words and swords, as each soldier tries to kill the other first through strategy and ambush.
