Based on a heartwarming true story, Touch of the Light is Taiwan’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 85th Academy Awards. Produced by renowned filmmaker Wong Kar Wai’s Jet Tone Films, the film is the feature directorial debut of Golden Horse Awards Best New Director winner Chang Jung Chi, who turns his award-winning short film about the friendship between a blind pianist and an aspiring dancer into a feature-length inspirational crowd-pleaser.

Huang Yu Hsiang plays himself in this charming film inspired by his own experiences when he left home to attend university. On his own for the first time, Yu Hsiang quietly struggles to adjust to the new dorm and classroom environment and find a place for himself. He befriends a young woman, played by Sandrine Pinna (Miao Miao), who yearns to dance though she has given it up. The two kindred souls inspire each other to confront their insecurities and reach for the light.
