A Step Into The Past director Chong Wai Kin plays with time travel again in the romantic comedy Always and Ever. Starring TVB’s long-time screen couple Bobby Au Yeung and Esther Kwan and Most Vastly Improved Actress winner Mandy Wong, the drama spans three lifetimes to tell the cursed destiny of a pair of lovers in different eras.
While tracking down a criminal, inspector Yuen Kam Cheong (Bobby Au Yeung) kills his girlfriend Yeung Tsik Suet (Esther Kwan) by mistake and immediately he is taken three lifetimes back to the Song Dynasty where he meets a spitting image of his girlfriend, medic Hon Seung Seung (Esther Kwan). As Justice Po (Bobby Au Yeung), he becomes the target of villains. When Seung Seung sacrifices herself to save him from a conspiracy, he finds himself fast forwarding to 1950s Hong Kong.
In the 50s, he turns into Detective Lung Biu (Bobby Au Yeung) who finds love with Tin Tsau Fung (Esther Kwan), the wife of a gangster’s leader. He is wary of their forbidden love but invariably Tsau Fung dies in his own hands under the evil scheme of Tsau Fung’s sister (Mandy Wong). Flashing back to modern day Hong Kong, Kam Cheong desperately tries to undo his damage. As the day of Tsik Suet’s death approaches, he finds the shocking truth behind their spell as he holds his girlfriend at gunpoint again..
