Located in Gangnam, Seoul, Cheongdamdong is an upscale area known for luxury shopping and posh living. This wealthy neighborhood serves as the telltale setting and inspiration for the 2012 SBS drama Cheongdamdong Alice. Popular actress Moon Geun Young stars as the “Alice” of this cynical modern fairy tale, the poor but determined fashion designer Han Se Kyung. Despite her humble background, she believes hard work will prevail. Her positive lifeview begins to collapse, however, after a series of setbacks: her father’s bakery closes down and her struggling boyfriend runs off with her savings. She gets into a major fashion company, but her job consists of running errands for the president’s wife, who turns out to be her high school rival!

Surrounded by snotty people who got ahead without working hard, Se Kyung suddenly realizes that her previous beliefs are upturned and meaningless in the strange Wonderland that is Cheongdamdong.
