Acclaimed director Johnnie To (The Mission) and Andrew Kam co-direct The Big Heat, a gloriously violent eighties cop actioner that could shock even those used to Hong Kong Cinema’s violent excess. Waise Lee is Inspector Wong, an intense cop whose nerve-damaged shooting hand leads him to consider retirement – that is, after one final case: the avenging of a former associate. His investigation encompasses a rookie cop (Matthew Wong), a pretty nurse (gorgeous Joey Wang), a ruthless crime kingpin (Paul Chu Kong), and enough blood and bullets to fill eight similar films. Or maybe even eighteen!

The Big Heat is a taut cop thriller that goes wild when shots are fired and blood is spilt. Heads roll, bones broken, blood spattered, and bodies dismembered by the over-the-top onslaught of gruesome and gleeful violence which is guaranteed to shock and entertain filmgoers everywhere! Johnnie To and Andrew Kam leave no stone unturned in their quest to bring as much mayhem as could conceivably – or even inconceivably – be put into a cop action film. It may not be every audience’s cup of tea, but for action fans, The Big Heat is an exhilarating, admirable piece of work..

In 2010, producer Checkley Sin and director Herman Yau explored Ip Man the righteous, patriotic Wing Chun grandmaster in The Legend is Born Ip Man. Three years later, the team shows us a more human side of Master Ip with Ip Man: The Final Fight. People know Ip Man as the Wing Chun grandmaster that defeated Japanese soldiers, racist boxers and Zhang Ziyi on the big screen. However, The Final Fight depicts a later stage of Master Ip’s life as a humble Wing Chun teacher in 1950s and 1960s Hong Kong. Based on anecdotes about Master Ip’s life directly from his son Ip Chun, the action drama shows the master as a normal man who simply wanted to pass on the art of Wing Chun to his students, even as labor unrest, corruption and crime swept the rapidly developing city. At the same time, he is also a respected figure who would not hesitate to go into action to protect his students.

In this latest take on the martial arts legend, award-winning actor Anthony Wong takes up the role of Master Ip in a dignified and commanding performance. One of the best actors in Hong Kong, Wong not only learned Wing Chun especially for the role, he also became the only actor to adapt Ip’s real-life Foshan accent. Joining Wong is a strong supporting cast that includes Jordan Chan (Young and Dangerous), Anita Yuen (Prot g ), Zhou Chu Chu (Dream Home), Gillian Chung (Twins Effect), Timmy Hung, Jiang Luxia, Xiong Xin Xin (Once Upon a Time in China) and Eric Tsang.

In 1949, 56-year-old Ip Man (Anthony Wong) leaves Foshan in search of a new life in Hong Kong. After an impromptu sparring match, Ip takes up his first disciple, Leung Seung (Timmy Hung). With Seung’s help, Ip establishes a makeshift Wing Chun school on an apartment building’s rooftop. Eventually, Ip attracts a group of loyal students from all walks of life, including a policeman, a factory laborer, a tram driver and others. As his students face troubles inside and outside of the school over the years, Master Ip remains a strong, unwavering moral figure in their lives..

The Overheard trilogy comes to an epic conclusion with Overheard 3. Once again written and directed by Alan Mak and Felix Chong (Infernal Affairs), the third film in the hit series (again an independent story) is a sweeping saga about Hong Kong’s New Territory region, where land is the all-important currency that people live and die for. Superstars Lau Ching Wan, Louis Koo and Daniel Wu are back as three key characters who play pivotal roles in this dangerous battle of wits. Billing the film as the swan song of the series, the filmmakers and producer Derek Yee have also rounded up cast members from the first two films including Alex Fong, Michelle Ye, Crystal Huang and Kenneth Tsang as well as new members Zhou Xun (The Great Magician), Gordon Lam (Cold War) and Ng Man Tat to bid farewell to the immensely successful trilogy. Thanks to the star power and its timely topic, Overheard 3 is one of the highest-grossing Hong Kong films of 2014.

In the 1970s, the Hong Kong government enacted a policy that granted each male heir of New Territories villagers the privilege to build a house without paying any dues to the government. Since then, those grants have become a commodity that village leaders can profit from. Luk (Kenneth Tsang) is one of those leaders. However, the Luk family’s NT Land Group shocks the village when it decides to go public thanks to an ambitious residential high-rise project made possible with the grants it bought up and the help of a businessman from Mainland China (Huang Lei). Bitter over not receiving a share of the new company, the Luk Brothers (Lau Ching Wan, Gordon Lam, Alex Fong, Lam Ka Wah) set a plan in motion to grab the company shares they should’ve gotten. Meanwhile, Jau (Louis Koo), one of the Luk Brothers, has been released from prison after serving five years for committing a murder that paved the way for the high-rise project. On the surface, he appears to be rejoining the Luk Brothers, but he’s secretly working with technology expert Joe (Daniel Wu) to spy on the four men for someone from his past.

What could be cuter than a giant panda? A baby giant panda! Disney’s second Chinese film after The Magic Gourd, Trail of the Panda charms viewers of all ages with its touching depiction of the friendship between a lonely young boy and a lost panda cub. Directed by Yu Zhong, the film follows the cuddly protagonists’ burgeoning friendship and great journey to find the cub’s mother amid adorable scenes of the panda rolling around, playing, and eating. Child lead Harashima Daichi is remembered for his award-nominated performance in Derek Yee’s Lost in Time.

Mute orphan boy Lu (Harashima Daichi) lives in the mountains with Lao Chen (Zhang Qi), who kindly took him in. Lao Chen is helping researcher Feng (Feng Li) track down and capture a Giant Panda cub that got separated from its mother. When Lu discovers the injured baby panda, he christens it “Pang Pang”, and secretly nurses it back to health himself. But when Lao Chen and Feng’s dogs catch scent of the panda, Lu decides the only way to protect Pang Pang is to bring it back to its mother.

Trail of the Panda was shot in early 2008 in Sichuan at the Balang and Siguniang Mountains and the Wolong Giant Panda Nature Reserve, which was closed down later in the year by a devastating earthquake that claimed thousands of lives, including one of the film’s pandas. Working off such compelling subjects and themes, the film wisely stays understated in narrative and presentation, letting the beautiful setting, the protagonists’ natural interactions, and, of course, the giant pandas take center stage.

Comes with making of, Chengdu music video, and “I Love Panda Environmental Essay Competition” collection..
