She started her career as a singer in 1975, and her screen debut, Chelsia, My Love, paved the way for her stardom in the film industry. Her popularity even extended to Korea, which was quite rare for Chinese stars at that time. She retired from her fabulous career in 1981 when she got married and moved to Malaysia with her husband, and did not return to the music scene until 2006 when she released her new album Flying Our Dream in Korea. Her debut movie, Chelsia, My Love, also starring famous singer Kenny Bee, is now available on DVD for fans!

Directed by Sung Cheng Shou, Chelsia, My Love sees Chelsia Chan as a girl suffering from a chronic disease. She encounters Leung (Kenny Bee) in her graduation ball and they fall in love with each other, but can their romance last forever? The theme song One Summer Night also gained unprecedented popularity across Asia, and is still many Korean fans’ summertime favorite. Longtime actor Lo Lieh steps into the director’s chair for Clan of the White Lotus, an enjoyable semi-sequel/remake of Executioners from Shaolin that’s a charming kung fu extravaganza in its own right! Gordon Liu Chia-Hui (Kill Bill, 36th Chamber of the Shaolin) stars as Hung Wei-Ting, a young Shaolin disciple seeking to avenge the death of his blood brother and his fianc e, who both died at the hands of the evil White Lotus (Lo Lieh), chief of the White Lotus Clan. With the help of his best friend’s pregnant wife, Mei-Hsiao (Kara Hui Ying-Hung), Wei-Ting goes into hiding and tries to combine Tiger and Crane boxing (and later a more feminine style) to defeat the evil White Lotus. After two unsuccessful attempts, Wei-Ting nearly loses his life to White Lotus’s 100-Pace Punch, a fatal maneuver which kills its victim after one hundred steps. Once he recovers, Wei-Ting learns the secrets of acupressure, integrating this new technique into his own mishmash of disparate fighting styles to a new school of martial arts – embroidery kung fu! Confident in his abilities, Wei-Ting challenges White Lotus to a fight to the death, but will he be able to survive?

Boasting strong performances from Gordon Liu and Kara Hui, Clan of the White Lotus makes for winning martial arts entertainment. And as good as Gordon Liu is, the hero is only as good as his villain, and Lo Lieh delivers in his role as the nefarious White Lotus Chief. With crackerjack action sequences, hilarious comedy, and compelling characters, Clan of the White Lotus is a stellar revenge flick that’s so good it surpasses its predecessor!.

In 2007, the Hong Kong government enacted a public area smoking ban that sent the city’s smokers out to the trash can ashtrays on the streets for their fix. This indirectly created a new socializing space that brought people from all walks of life together, united by their addiction to nicotine. This new social phenomenon – and the possibility of romance that it brings – inspired writer-director Pang Ho Cheung to make the romantic comedy Love in a Puff. Set in the back alleyways and empty streets of Hong Kong, the film stars Miriam Yeung (Love Undercover) and Shawn Yue (Infernal Affairs) in an unlikely romance set off by the flicker of a lighter. Co-written by up-and-coming young director Heiward Mak (High Noon), Love in a Puff is Pang’s first Category III film due to its fill of crude jokes and adult language. However, a sweet and charming romance lies at the film’s core, making it also the director’s lightest – and funniest – film yet. Love in a Puff initially opened to only a modest box office gross, but praise for the offbeat romance traveled quickly around Hong Kong youths, turning it into a rare sleeper hit over its extended theatrical run in spring 2010.

Cosmetic salesperson Cherie (Miriam Yeung) and advertising agency employee Jimmy (Shawn Yue) are both part of a group of smokers that include advertising executives, a hotel bellhop (Cheung Tat Ming), and a Pakistani pizza delivery boy. They spend their smoking breaks telling each other horror stories, dirty jokes, and gossip about the people around. Soon, a not-so-platonic friendship begins to form between Cherie and Jimmy when they start having text message conversations and night strolls outside the smoking group. Can they overcome their relationship obstacles, or will their romance be as short-lived as a burning cigarette?

Hailed as China’s answer to Kung Fu Panda, Legend of a Rabbit is notably the country’s first animated film that is exported for worldwide exhibition. The big-budget 3D animated movie took three years to complete under the direction of Sun Lijun, the head of the Animation School of Beijing Film Academy, who applies uniquely Oriental aesthetics to a classical Chinese martial arts tale with technical support from Disney animator Kevin Geiger. The family-friendly flick features an all-star cast voicing the characters, including comedian Fan Wei, actress Yan Ni, Pu Cunxin, and Zhang Fengyi.

With a script by famous writer Zou Jingzhi (My Kingdom), the hilarious wuxia toon follows simple-minded cook Rabbit (Fan Wei), who begins his action-packed adventure in the martial world after acquiring supreme kung fu from the dying Old Grandmaster (Pu Cunxin). In return, Rabbit promises to deliver the Grandmaster’s token as the ruler of the martial world to his daughter Peony (Yan Ni), and take revenge on his renegade disciple Lord Bear (Zhang Fengyi).

A rare costume film from Taiwan, Ripples of Desire brings together four of Taiwan’s most popular stars: Michelle Chen and Ivy Chen, playing sisters again after Hear Me, and television idols Joe Cheng (It Started with a Kiss) and Jerry Yan (Magic Kitchen) of F4. Known for the lesbian dramas Spider Lilies and Drifting Flowers, Zero Chou directs this handsome period romance set in Taiwan over 300 years ago during the maritime ban. The visually and emotionally beguiling tale transports audiences back to a poetic time of tragic courtesans, dashing pirates and thwarted love. Hong Kong stars Simon Yam and Sandra Ng and Mainland actors Li Xiaoran and Mao Zijun also co-star in this ambitious period drama, which poses questions about the will and status of women amid its lyrical romance and aesthetic splendor.

After losing their father at sea, sisters White Snow (Michelle Chen) and White Frost (Ivy Chen) are taken in by Madame Moon (Sandra Ng) and groomed into the top courtesans at the House of Flowers. Innocent and kindhearted, Snow enchants many with her beautiful voice, including her new music teacher Wen (Joe Cheng), but she suffers from a disease that cannot be known. Ambitious and calculating, Frost sees the world with more cynical eyes and hides her feelings for Scarface (Jerry Yan), the right-hand man of seafaring outlaw Master Hai (Simon Yam). As courtesans, Snow and Frost know their destinies are out of their own grasps, but their hearts cannot turn back the ripples of desire and change..
