The documentary A Little Girl’s Prayer shines a light on the brief but meaningful life of Christian Korean freedom fighter Yu Gwan Sun, who was only a teenager when she gave her life to the independence movement. Yu was a student at Ewha Girls’ School when she joined the March 1st Movement in Seoul in 1919. Returning to her hometown, she organized a peaceful protest that was violently repressed by the Japanese police, leading to the death of her parents and her own imprisonment. Acclaimed filmmaker Park Chan Wook returns to the director’s chair to helm Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, one of the most highly anticipated Korean films of 2005. The film marks the end of Park’s hugely popular “Vengeance Trilogy”, a series of films that began with 2002’s Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and continued with 2003’s internationally successful Old Boy.
